Ducks Taking Over

Last nights 3-2 victory over the Senators was not the best game played yet by the Ducks, but any way a 3 games to 1 lead can be had, complaints can’t be taken too seriously. Here are some notes from the last few games.

Pronger gets one game. Sounds about right. While I can appreciate his desire to play aggressively, and that he accepts his suspension (better than the last one), you would think he would be of better service to the Ducks by keeping his game in check.

Alfie shoots at Niedermayer. Talk about generally stupid. Remember all the talk of a general lack of respect in the game? This was proof positive. No one expects the man to admit what he did, but when you pause your shot, re-aim, and shoot directly at a star player, the world would have to be complete fools to believe he didn’t mean to do it. A suspension probably won’t be coming, as the Sens are close to elimination, and any suspension could be construed as an attempt to take the cup away from Ottawa. Of course, players doing stupid and dangerous things are never thought of as the problem, it’s not letting the players decide the outcome. Ah, hockey fans. How we love our team tinted glasses.

The first period. Ducks sucked. Not just because of taking only 2 shots, but how about not being able to handle the puck. How about not making tape to tape passes. How about trying to be fancy before going anywhere.

Ducks respond. If there is one reason I see that the Ducks have made it as far as they have, it’s that they always have a response. When the body gets thrown around, they start throwing it back. When they get outskated, they start skating harder and faster. When the other team takes the play to them, they start taking it back. It’s whey the Sharks failed, why the Flames failed, why the Canucks fell, why any team has won or lost any game. They respond to a situation, and never give up.

What No Hitting League? Hockey fans are not allowed to cry about their team getting beaten up. You wanted hitting, you got hitting. These finals are rough and tumble. What a wonderful series.

Game 2. The best 1-0 game ever. Ever.

  1. Game 2. The best 1-0 game ever. Ever.

Goes perfectly with my sentiments as well.

    And you don’t even have a Pahlsson-crush! 🙂

  2. I hate to admit this because I really wanted to go with the Senators because I can’t stand Chris Pronger and so forth but as this series goes on, I’m getting more turned off by the Sens behavior and sort of leaning towards the Ducks. I think it is my Western Conference thing, the Selanne/McDonald thing… Also, the Ducks have always found a way to respond. When things look bad for them, they somehow find another gear and get it done. If it weren’t for Brian Burke, Brad May, and Chris Pronger, I would be cheering for the Ducks.
