Hockey Podcast Poll

The hockey podcasting season is getting underway, and the field, just like the field of hockey blogging, podcasts are seeing some changes, like the end of Puck Daddy Radio, or the start of Smashville 24/7.  But podcasting, much like pimpin’, ain’t easy.  It’s hard to get good feedback about your show, since there isn’t an easy way to quickly comment on a podcast from an mp3 player, or your car.

Over at The Rink Podcast (making its return this season), I put up a poll for people who listen to hockey podcasts.  Ten questions designed to give hockey podcasters a better understanding of how their audience listens to their shows, and what they like and don’t like about the podcasts they listen to.

The poll is anonymous, and I plan on sharing a the data with any hockey podcaster who wants it.  Taking the poll will only help to improve hockey podcasting as a whole.

You can find the post with the poll at The Rink Podcast, or just go directly to the poll after the jump.  Thanks for helping.

(As I mentioned, the Rink Podcast returns this season after a way too long break.  I have a few guests lined up from hockey blogs around the NHL, and hopefully one co-host, but I’m still looking for another co-host to come on every third week or so to discuss the NHL, as well as other guests.  If you’re interested, hit me up in the comments, or send me a message here.)

Season Opens Tonight, So Get Primed… And Pumped

The season starts tonight, and where it matters, in Colorado, the Avalanche take on the Chicago Blackhawks at the Pepsi Center to get the season started right. I don’t know who the Avs pay off to get great match-ups on opening night, but I like it.

If you need get squared away for the start of the season, or if you just want to get psyched up for tonight’s game, and the 2010-11 season, you should listen to a few solid podcasts (that I was involved with, of course:-) ).

First up, Jay Vean of The Avs Hockey Podcast and I did a preseason podcast this week that gets you up to date with what happened in the offseason, and what to expect in the months ahead. A great opening night primer, which you can find here. Also, I’m going to be doing more with the Avs Hockey Podcast this season. Jay was gracious enough to invite me to be a bigger part of his show, and it’s going to be a fun season. If you don’t listen to it already, and you’re and Avalanche fan, you are missing out. The iTunes page can be found here.

Over on The Rink, my main podcast, I posted a Avalanche roundtable podcast. After the first day of training camp, I got together with Justin of The Avalanche Guild, Ryan and Jonathan of The Burgundy Blog, and Angelique from the Colorado Avalanche Prospects blog, all hosted by James Kyle. We talked a lot about what we saw, and how we think the Avs will do this year based on what we saw. You can find it here.

I’ll probably be watching the later half of the game after work, most likely in a bar in downtown Chicago (Stocks and Blondes seems like the most likely). I’ll be the guy in the Avs jersey, possibly getting the crap kicked out of him. But it’s the start of the hockey season, so at least I’ll be smiling.

The Rink Podcast is Live

This past week, Tom Luongo of NHL Fanhouse and I started a hockey podcast. We are calling it The Rink. Starting out as a once a week podcast, we are talking about the latest news from the NHL, as well as talking to a hockey blogger about their team, and what they think about the NHL and hockey in general. Tom has some interesting takes on the world of hockey.

So far, we have two episodes up, the first featuring Greg Wyshynski from Yahoo! Sports Puck Daddy blog. The second one features Sherry from Scarlett Ice and the HLOG. Both were great to talk with, and we are looking forward to talking with more hockey bloggers as the season goes on.

You can find the Rink at:

www.rinkpodcast.com

and if you want to call in to the podcast, we have a phone number set up for you at:

845-704-RINK

845-704-7465

You can find it on iTunes here.

Hope you stop by to check it out.
