Today, for all the nation to see, the Avalanche beat the Red Wings 4-3 in overtime. All the nation except myself, that is. I was working. Not that I am complaining too much. I was able to follow along on NHL.com and the HFBoards. The only sad part was that Bertuzzi didn’t play. Actually, I mean that. It would have only added to the buzz and intensity of the game. Still, I will take an Avs win over anything else. Today the kids were alright, as youth stood out for the Avs, who accounted for 2 goals and 5 of the assists today. It may be too little too late, but if you have a team that is effectively out of the playoffs, you might as well watch them win a few before the season is over, especially against a “hated” rival (hated is in quotes because players don’t really seem to hate anymore).
Being the last game against the Wings this year, the series ended in an absolute split, with each team getting 2 wins, one loss, and one loss in OT (Avs in the shootout, Wings in the OT period). So, if I can take anything away from it, while neither one SHOWED the other anything, it was a better year for the Avs against the Wings then last year. That counts for something I guess.
JAHL will be off the radar for a few days as I will be loading a large musical onto trucks through the night, moving said show about 300 miles, and installing it into a new theater for a few days, then fly back to Colorado on Thursday. I will be missing games and blogging for a little bit, but will hardly notice thanks to the work. Think good thoughts and I will see you soon.

I’ve had too much to drink, by a factor of about 8,000. By rights I shouldn’t even be able to operate a computer. But I can say this: RED WINGS BLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW
I’m with Greg. RED WINGS SUCK! RED WINGS SUCK! I always thought my first post on your site would be witty and profound…but that’s all that really needs to be said, isn’t it? Muahahaha…
One of my favorite parts of going to an Avs game in the late 90’s/early 00’s was when we started chanting “Red Wings Suck”…. against the Edmonton Oilers.
Great win for the Avs. I can’t figure them out. Some games they can’t seem to win and other ones they refuse to die. Oh well, at least it’s been the latter lately. I’ve got great tickets to the game tomorrow- front row, next to the benches. I’m rooting for the Avs, because whichever team I root for is going to lose and the Bruins need the points. It’s going to be stressful either way.
Katie-
I think that’s the youth and inexperience going for them. Great article on NHL.com (Which i would link to, but now can’t find…maybe it was on NBC.com) about Detroit’s GM praising the Avs, especially Sakic tutoring the Young Avs.
Hopefully that plays out well
