Dear Mr. Forsberg…

Hey, how you doing? How about them Preds, huh?

Well, it seemed like you had a good time last night, being back in Denver for the first time since leaving for the Flyers. Also, I have to say, the pregame interview and stuff I read in the papers make it appear that you kind of miss it here. I hope the fans made you feel welcome, and that the little video tribute to your time here was nice. Thanks for taking a moment to acknowledge the fans.

Forsberg Bunny

Of course, everyone is now wondering what you are going to do when the season ends. Will you look for a free agent contract in the NHL, go play in Europe, or retire? Well, let me make a little proposal to you.

You are always welcome back here. And it would be nice if you came back, not only for your skill, but to maybe work with some of the up and coming kids we have now. Also, how about we resign Scott Parker as a bit of a bodyguard for you. Plus, we have a little extra cash laying around that we didn’t have when you left. Could be a match remade in heaven.

So, you know, just think about it.

Forsberg Think About It

Just saying.

  1. I hope he does go back. Some players just belong, and it’s sad when they are lost somewhere other than their proper place. Forsberg belongs in Colorado.

  2. I can just feel the tension between him and the Avs puck. Go on, Peter. You know you want it.

And BTW, every time I come to your site now I get hungry. It’s torture.

  3. So it depends. You have to shed yourselves of Theo’s contract, and then rely on Budaj?
Where else are you going to get the $$$ from?

  4. Baroque – They do seem to fit, don’t they?

    Katie – Why? SNACK TIME!!!!

Zan – Well, Theo should be gone, plus 4.6 million in bonus money paid to Sakic and Blake from 2001 contracts, plus Turgeon and Brisebois won’t be back, and Konowalchuk’s (I believe) salary counted against the cap. Throw in Vaananen and Laaksonen, who better not be back, and I think they will have some money to burn. A Theo buyout should net $4 million back in cap space.

I think they can ride Budaj as the number 1 next season, as he has earned it. Pick up a decent 1b or 2nd goalie, and we are looking OK (finally). That is, unless Goalie Coach Hackett convinces the powers that be to give Theo another shot. If he does, I will go down there personally and slap him.

  5. Isn’t Forsberg too injury prone for his price tag?
He’d be a better trade deadline rental when the Avs are in a playoff position next year. And even then..he’s a gamble
