It was the second meeting of between the Avalanche and the Red Wings, the first at Joe Louis Arena, and I can’t exactly call it a great outing. Avs lose the game 1-0…
1-0.
That should seem like a victory at this point. Look at everything that’s stacked up against the Avs:
Sakic is out
Smyth is out.
Arnason is out
Theodore in net.
Playing the best team in the NHL.
Hockey games don’t get excuses. Fans of hockey can make them, but the players aren’t allowed. They are still playing for two points every game, and excuses aren’t going help. They aren’t going to score you goals.
Hey, speaking of not scoring goals, neither did the Avs. Heck, they only got off 19 shots. Only three shots in the third period. Do I really have to look at the quotes from the coach tomorrow? I can pretty much sum it up. Not enough effort, Theodore was decent, have to work harder, blah, blah, blah. And you know, he’s right.

The only solution is to rotate the goalies and mix up the lines. He’s held out this long, and it’s obvious that now Q has to make a change. I know he’s like the Rock of Gibraltar when it comes to creating consistency with his line ups but I think he’s got to break the bank now. There’s no other way.
